Garanti Bank exceeded 70,000 Bonus Cards
15.10.2009 – Bonus Card, the credit card offered by Garanti Bank, exceeded 70.000 users. Bonus Card is the first multi-branded chip card in Romania, a smart payment tool which rewards consumers with bonuses for each purchase they make.
"We are very close of reaching our initial target of doubling the volume of credit cards issued, from 40.000 as of the end of the year to 80.000 until the end of 2009. We believe that this increase was determined by the fact that Bonus Card is more than a classic credit card. It gives the cardholders the possibility to benefit from the various campaigns we carry out together with more than 1500 Bonus Card partner merchants, consisting in attractive discounts, shoppping in maxim 18 installments without interests or commissions or higher bonuses.”, Ilgaz Kaya, Cards Director Garanti Bank stated.
Bonus Card was developed in Romania based on the similar product launched by Garanti in Turkey in 2002. According to the analysis published in the most recent edition of Nilson Report, a well-known publication in payment systems industry, in 2008 Garanti Turkey registered credit card transactions amounting to USD 4.52 billion, which made it rank 7th among the largest credit card issuing banks in Europe.
