We know how important security and confidentiality are to you

6 Golden Rules

  • Be suspicious of e-mails
GarantiBank Bank NEVER asks you for your personal information, password, etc by e-mail. If you ever receive an e-mail asking you for your GarantiBank personal information or password, immediately notify the Alo Garanti on 0 800 80 1234 (toll free number from any fix or mobile telephony network).
Some kinds of viruses can be spread by e-mail. If you ever receive an e-mail whose sender is unknown or seems suspicious to you, delete it without opening or reading it.
  • Point your browser at garantibank.ro yourself
Any time you want to access the GarantiBank online branch, YOU should enter garantibank.ro in the address bar of your browser and then click on the online branch link on that page. This is the surest way of protecting yourself against "phishing"–an attempt by someone to trick you out of your confidential information by pretending to be GarantiBank.
  • Keep your confidential information safe.
Be suspicious of ANYONE who asks you for personal information such as your date of birth, ID number, etc. Information as mentioned is only asked if you call to Alo Garanti on 0800.80.1234 (toll free number from any fix telephony network) for activation.
GarantiBank NEVER asks you for all of your mother's maiden name-just some of its letters. If anyone EVER asks you for your mother's full maiden name, don't give it and immediately notify us at Alo Garanti on 0800.80.1234 (toll free number from any fix telephony network)
  • Use hard-to-guess passwords
Avoid passwords that might be easy for someone to guess such as your birthday or nickname. Many people think that if they make a password too complicated they’ll forget it. The best way to prevent that is to use an easily remembered word to which you add one or more easily-remembered numbers.
For maximum security, use the GarantiBank Çiframatic to generate single-use passwords (transaction authorization numbers).
  • Protect your computer
You can protect your computer against viruses and other harmful programs by regularly using the programs mentioned on our "Useful links" page.
  • Only use computers that you trust
NEVER use publicly accessible computers (such as are found in internet cafes) or any computer without up-to-date antivirus software installed to access the GarantiBank online branch.

Check the page’s security icon

Near the lower right corner of the screen of every passworded or transaction page there should be a () icon if you’re using Internet Explorer or a () icon if you’re using Netscape. This icon indicates that the page is "SSL secured" and that it really is a page that belongs to GarantiBank Bank. If you double-click the icon you’ll see a "security certificate" that should say "Issued to: sube.GarantiBank .com.tr" and "Issued by: www.verisign.com/CPS Incorp.by Ref. LIABILITY LTD.(c) 97 VeriSign".
